Hey Everyone,

I've been coming to this forum for some time, just never registered, i especially enjoy all of "clowny's" posts, it was very helpful.

anyway now i finally have a question of my own concerning the waterproofing membrane you use on walls or in my case roman tubs, is it okay to nail or screw things over it? In my case the membrane is the pvc membrane, showerpan type i suppose, and once this is down i have to screw the cement board down over it....is this okay?

please help, there is so little info on these tubs that everything i know is from this or 1 other website or from what people have told me. from what i gather a lot of the ""professionals"" do it wrong as well. Thanks for anyones help!

You shouldn't nail through the membrane below the water line.

Welcome, Koren. :)

What Bob said. Not at all. Ever.

If your design is such that you must nail something over the waterproofing membrane below the water line, you need to change your design.
