Hello all,

A quick question with a hopefully equally quick answer - do joists have to be sistered before Ditra is installed? Or can it happen after? (I only ask because the Ditra has already been installed :stupid2: - trying to figure out if it's still worth sistering the joists).

Thanks!

Welcome, Sly. :)

I'd need to know more about your situation, but if your joist structure is inadequate for your ceramic tile installation, you'll need to do something. Sistering the joists may be the solution. I really prefer to see that done while there is still access to fasten the existing subflooring to the new joists or to install a suitable subfloor, but clearly that ship has sailed for you.

How 'bout the adequacy of the subflooring under that Ditra?
