Trying to see if there is any other way of creating a movement joint at the walls beside caulking when the baseboards are already installed. I usually am able to talk the owner into removeing the existing ones then I install sill seal and then have new baseboards installed afterwards. So any suggestions will help.

If the base boards absolutely, positively can't be removed...

...Have you suggested the addition of shoe molding?

Caulking against the baseboards looks tacky, to me.

I'd undercut them, unless it would cut too much of the baseboard off. In that case, even shoe trim would probably be too much, and I'd want the trim removed.
