Went to go do an estimate and had a customer who said that they were going to use clorox to clean their grout for their rental property.
I told them that would definitely be a big NO NO. They asked why--I told them that that would surely eat away at the grout and over time cause cracks and pitting. I also told them about about sealing or color staining.
Being that these folks contacted me through the yellow pages and they really didn't seem to care of the grout, because it was a rental property. It really seem that they were prices shoppers instead of value shoppers. I just have a funny feeling that they are going to use the clorox method--just to save a buck.
If they are trying to remove mildew, the grout will cleanup nice with Clorox.
If we’re talking any other contaminate, Clorox will not do it. It's not a “cleaner”.
Bleach will not “eat” at the grout. In fact, it will not cause any structural damage whatsoever. It can cause discoloration on a colored grout. So the “clean” joint might look worse than the “dirty” joint.
