New Member Introduction
Gents,
Just signed up and wanted to introduce myself. I'm with a company called Lackmond Products out of Kennesaw, Georgia. We have been in the diamond tooling industry for 20 years. While we've mainly been focused on the general construction / STAFDA markets, we have been dedicating a good many resources over the past 2 years to increasing our presence in the Tile and Stone markets.
My personal background: I was playing with Felker tub saws before I was in grade school. I'd like to consider myself an expert with relation to diamond blades, bits, polishing, and grinding- though I'm finding myself learning from folks such as yourself every time I hit a job site. I'm by no means a tile expert, but I can help you cut just about anything on the planet.
I've sent a note to the moderators about our company becoming a sponsor for the site and will refrain from posting more about myself or the company until I have heard back from them. I also looked through the FAQ and stickies but did not see any rules related to industry partners. If one of you could point me towards a link, it would be appreciated.
While I would like to move (and give away!) some product as a result of my contributions here, I am not here to spam your board with advertisements and propaganda. I simply want to hang around, learn from your experiences, and offer whatever help I can within my skill set.
I look forward to speaking with you all over the coming months and being a valuable industry partner for your message board.
I've also got a very sick and twisted sense of humor, so I'm sure I'll fit in with this bunch quite well.
Best regards gents,
nic

Welcome, Nic.
The rules about spamming on our site are the same for everyone, paid advertiser or new visitor; if there is a thread with a request that can be filled by reference to one of your products, you're welcome to post a response indicating that. But you cannot start threads advertising your products nor make advertising posts to threads where no one has asked about your, or similar products.
You may not contact members of our forums other than publicly on the forums unless you are asked specifically to do so by the member.
You'll find that just being a helpful, participating member of our forums will make you, and perhaps your product, welcome here, even though diamond blade salesmen have not always been our most popular visitors.
Easy as that.

hahaha. yet another diamond guy- yes. one of millions.
but an honest, intelligent diamond guy that ISN'T a telemarketer now there's the uniqueness. I cannot sell directly to contractors anyways- only through distribution- so no worry on that.
Thank you for the candid response CX. Talk is cheap but you guys will get to know me over the coming months and I'll ultimately end up with the reputation I earn / deserve. Please give me an opportunity to build my own "reputation" through this board versus lumping me in with the plethora of overbearing, aggressive, and flat out dishonest diamond salesmen I'm sure you have had experience with.
As for my company- we have / will have a booth at Surfaces 2012, Coverings, World of Concrete, STAFDA, ARA, et al. We're members of the NTCA and advertise / support through the Tile & Stone Blue Book and the Tile Letter. I know that doesn't reflect upon the integrity of my team or myself, but it should at least give you all some idea as to the depth of our commitment to this market and supporting our industry.

I resemble that remark.....
Welcome to the Forum Nic.. We often need help with those pesky porcelains...
Course some of the issues aren't the blades but the tiles...
and a super welcome if you become a sponsor..

@ Paco - thank you for the welcome sir. Porcelain doesn't bother me. It's the big glass jobs that make us diamond guys cringe.
@ ceramictec - let me get settled in here and build some trust with the site staff before I start throwing things around. I more than want to be able to "give back" to the community, but I'm going to lay low for a while and get the approval of John and staff for any of these type things.
now, that being said... if i'm your friend, will you tile my bathroom?

Nic, you have entered this place with the right attitude, sounds like you might not be another flash in the pan salesman.
Like CX said, play fair and you'll get/earn the respect. Pretty simple really, but also a balancing act. Good luck.
and give Brian a blade just to shut him up, willya?

Doesn't Lackmond make saws, too? If so, that would set you apart from just being another blade salesman.
