Deflecto App

Our friend Roger at TileArt has through the years helped lots of tile contractors with their web sites to the point of actually building sites for some of them. He has done this with nothing coming back to himself save the satisfaction of having helped fellow tile folks.

Now Roger has built an app for our world famous "Deflecto," the gadget that allows people to calculate the strength of their floor framing system before setting floor tiles. The app will be very handy for anyone needing to do floor calculations in the field. You can get Android, Blackberry, Open Source and Symbian versions right now. The iPhone version will be along soon.

Thank you, Roger.

You can download the app at: https://build.phonegap.com/apps/79961/share

If you don't know what the Deflecto is, click "deflecto" in the blue links bar above.

Great contribution Roger. I don't have a phone that'll use the app, but I can certainly appreciate the effort that you put into creating it. Kudos.

Roger said he hasn't done that much math since college. I believe him.

He already did it, Marge. We're waiting for a license from Apple. That's no joke.

HEY! I ain't got nuthin' more to do Lady! I did all my work, the holier-than-thous over onna apple side won't let regular chumps like me write stuff for their 'inFallible' devices without they first run me through what passes for homeland security over there in iVille first.

So all you iPhones and iPads can just pull up your iSkirts and grab your proprietary iSoftware and stand the **** by!

I kept waitin' around for someone to write the damn thing and no one did - slackers.

Like JB said, the other platforms are available from that link, as soon as I get certificates signed for the android store we'll shoot 'em over there. Until then, if you want to download it, you'll need to change your droid settings to allow installation of non-market applications. You can do that under Settings>>Applications>>Unknown sources.

The current app is in what is called 'debug' format - don't let that term scare you, it doesn't mean anything negative. Unless someone has a problem with it that is the exact program that will be uploaded to the app store - no changes.

Think of it as a beta version of the software. It's simply to be able to install it on phones to make sure everything works correctly - if not you can 'debug' it. That's all.

There is nothing in that program I didn't write line-by-line and it's all strictly code to run the program - so no one will have access to anything on your phone, change anything, track you or anything else. It's completely safe.

That said, if anyone downloads it and finds anything quirky or weird, or something just isn't working right please let me know. I can change it very quickly and it's much easier now than after it leaves that link. I can only check it on my phone and virtual simulators (which aren't always accurate) so please let me know if it is acting up.

.
