I listen to my alarms, also. I've found them to be invaluable.

Alarms - I did ignore once and last time, I added 50% to my usual charge, got the job, thought I can't lose. I lost 70%, good sleep for a month, when I was driving to the site I was envy homeless people, because they do not have to go to work...... At the end of "the" job my helper refused to work there. HO (lady) was really something. She would make fun of her husband (really nice guy) in front of us.

Yes Leslie I agree, when someone wants the shortcut to doing things the right way...... Let them do it I worked for an architect recently on a very unique project in his home and I felt good before and after we finished. He wanted things done right and that is the way we did it. When people want to drag you through the mud with the cost of the little things that will make the project, let them drag someone else down. Good thing about having a lot of experience in this trade is you know when to bid and you know when to fold and you know when to run........................

I agree, k-board would be ideal but it isn't free

Yeah, good move.

Its always harder to walk on those bad vibes though when you are broke and needing work. Hope that is not the case for you.

I just told him that a couple of bids came through and i would be tied up. This man lives very close to me and walks (for exercise) past my house so i didnt want any issues.

Biz has been picking up lately so im not worried. Something always comes along.

If he walks past your house, I can see that as a potential "situation." Bottom line is if he wanted to have the work done right and use the right materials you would have bid the job. Jason made a good point too about work. You have to live with your decision but it sounds like you made the right one. This way he can keep walking by your house as a friend.
