Question Numero Uno & Dos

Hi Tim,

I was just asked to look at an installation using Laticrete spectralock.

The floor has problems and we have been asked to prepare an inspection report and method of repair.

The first thing is the floor is filthy and dirt has bonded to the grout.

Second the color on the floor does not match the base.

I was able to scratch the surface and get to grout. Quite like a cementious product rather than epoxy one.

1) Would your restore be the best solution to getting rid of dirt and quite possible latex accumulation?

2) If you would be willing to formulate a color in your colorant to match the blue spectralock, do you think we could get it to bond to spectralock?

Thanks, Steven

1) The Heavy Duty Cleaner & Stripper will remove any latex. It’s also heavy on surfactant, which will help with general dirt and crud.
2) We will match any color you need, but I’m going to recommend Aqua Mix Colorant for this one. Our stain will not penetrate Spectralock. We will have to rely on bonding strength alone on this one. Aqua Mix is a single component epoxy, so it will bond with your epoxy grout better than our acrylic. They will do custom colors, as far as I know. The stain is more durable, as long as it can penetrate.

Tim,

I never thought you would. Integrity is a huge commodity in my book. I already knew you have tons of it.

Again,

Best wishes, Steven

Tim... call me... we need more Stone Armor.... do you sell it in 55 gal drums?

I spoke with the rep at Laticrete about their Spectralock product... he said it is epoxy grout... they just don't call it that because so many installers don't like to use epoxy...
It sounds like a good product, but he also said it's not recommended for exterior applications because it is not UV stable... the pigment will darken when exposed over time.... probably more information than you needed to know

Hi Karen,

55s are doable. Did anyone ever decide whether that's a word?

Hi Steven

I used to have Aqua Mix match whatever color I needed. The only downfall, was I had to purchase 4 - 16 oz. bottles to complete the order. It was worth the price, plus it always got paid for with gratitude from the customer for saving the job.

Now I deal with many distributors, that carry there product (Aqua Mix) to compliment the grout line that they stock (Custom's, Hydroment, Laticrete etc.) My local distributor carry's Laticrete & Aqua Mix. Would you like me to check on availability of the Blue for you? (Hey it rhymes!)

John, according to my spellcheck it is!

I talked to Karen earlier today. She’s waiting on approval from her homeowners association for the water tower type Stone Armor storage vessel. I prefer the front yard…less hose to run. If that doesn’t fly, we will fill the pool.

A tanker truck in the driveway shouldn't be all that noticeable.

Hey Tim,

Since you a moderator and all.

I sent you a PM a while back about purchasing the stuff in bulk.

You set up for that?

Steven

John,

I am waiting on the history of the job before i decide to get involved further. Truly an awful lot of tedium to make it right. I don't know if we are ready for that right now.

If so I will gladly take you up on your offer.

TIA, Steven
