Miracle Grout Shield

Has anyone tried this product? You add it to the grout mix in place of water and the company clams you will never need to seal the grout. Wanted to now if it works or if it a waste of money.

Thanks...
Doug

Doug, it always helps if you'll post a link to the product you're looking for information about so everyone is commenting on the same thing, eh?

I am curious too. I saw this on the shelf at HD. I am not a big fan of Miracle products, but it looks interesting. I havent heard about anyone using it.

This is actually the only Miracle product we haven't started selling yet. We should be getting it again soon and will try to post a review. It looks promising.

I'm always skeptical of mixing anything with any product that the product manufacturer hasn't specified.

And I'm wondering how's come someone from Miracle hasn't weighed in here.

It sounds interesting and I'm trying to picture in my head how it would work? Does the liquid discolor the grout or make it darker or lighter than if one was to use water? I'm guessing it's permanent and there is no need to reseal ever?

Any technical testing by Henry R. or CBP to say that this stuff doesn't negatively affect color, working time, bond strength, etc.

Yeah it's guaranteed for 20 years, and if it fails and your grout crumbles - you get your $24.95 back.

Need to hear from grout mfgrs before I take the plunge.

no offense to any manufacturers, but i value the opinions of my peers more than company reps. manufacturer guidelines and "studies" are not always accurate, or the most effecient.

BUMP

Any of you guys who usually seal your own tile jobs started using this yet? I seal about 5% of my jobs due to no time available, but inform my customers how to seal themselves.

Customers really don't like the effort, and intention to repeat every couple years (which they'll never do). So it would be a real value to the if something like this works well. Toss in a a few points margin to us and it obviously makes sense all around.

But does it perform exactly like water (in Permacolor, prism, etc.)?

Does it affect install/working time or procedures? Clean up?

Is it exactly like water, but better?

So based on responses so far . . . it appears that absolutely no one on the JB Forums has tried Miracle Grout Shield.

Or doesn't care to comment on their experiences with it.

Or they don't even know what it is.

I am in a pinch and really need any input on Miracle Grout Shield. My customer wants the benefits of a pre-sealed grout, but has chosen to do part Spectralock (in the shower area) but PermaColor in the rest of the bathroom. Problem is that the tile is 6x12 set subway/running bond style and they want a clean divide on the wall between epoxy ends and PermaColor begins. Recipe for disaster. Not gonna doit.

So Miracle Grout Shield makes sense - IF someone (with some considerable JB Forums postage weight) feels its a good thing.

Anybody? Nobody?

I've never used Grout Shield, but I've been using something called Grout-Once that offers the same claim of not having to seal the grout after. It mixes and cleans up as if it was mixed with plain water. I used it in my own bathroom and the grout cleans up very well after 3 years.
