Bleach/Water to clean Travertine shower floor

Hi eveyone...

I have been using a light mixure of bleach and water to clean my tumbled 2x2 travertine shower floor. Will this strip the sealer I use? I ok with using this?..Reason is I noticed in areas that the grout has a pink tint to it from mildew where the water tends to sit outside the preslope..I would hate to have to seal everyime I clean but the bleach and water seems to work well, unlike many of the stone safe cleaners I have used in the past...Am I doing damage to my grout over time?

Thanks...Lance

Hey Lance, hope your not messing up the Travertine I did.

the bleach is high in pH, around 12.
it's also probably etching away at the travertine.

I would use a Stone friendly cleaner and sealer regularly.

the pink stuff isnt mildew, It is a airborne bacteria called Serratia Marcescens.
It likes damp conditions and is commonly found growing in bathrooms (especially on tile grout), where it manifests as a pink discoloration.

I would put in a bigger more powerful ceiling fan or leave your shower door open to help it dry faster. it also feeds off phosphorus containing materials such as soap and shampoo residue.

it says to clean with a bleach mixture but in your case with having travertine it's not good.

Serratia Marcescens Bacteria

others might have an idea.
