German Knee Pads? (The best?)

HI guys,

I was talking with a Tile setter who has had the same knee pads for 20 years of his career and he told me he has no knee problems at all and I asked him how thats possible and he said that his first boss imported these knee pads from Germany for all the employees and that he still uses them to this day. He says that it feels like your kneeling on air when your on the floor and you barely feel a thing. He couldn't show me the knee pads because they were at work and he doesnt know where you can get them because he tried looking for a new pair...so I put this question to the board, does anybody know anything about these special German knee pads? Apparently they are small in size and and they may be orange...not sure, could be a different color today.

Thanks guys!

Jeremy

Just because he has had no problems doesn't mean they are the best.

Some guys don't use them at all, and have no problems.

If you can't find them, what good are they.

Maybe it depends on how much floor work you do. I also do hardwood and laminate on the side and I'm on my knees alot, plus I grout all my jobs since I don't have a helper. This tile setter dude claims that when you kneel on these knee pads it feels like kneeling on air and this guy does lots of commercial jobs, which means he does tons of square footages on the floor and his knees are perfect! I think he's forty something from the looks of it. Anyways, he still uses the same knee pads after 20 years...which I found amazing. I would rather have these knee pads then take chances with my knees on regular knee pads. I too hear of flooring guys who don't have bad knees but I hear about alot of flooring guys who do have bad knees....which only makes sense, I mean, the knee is a joint and when abused it won't last very long on you.

Get a pair of Proknees, as they are the best that I know.

Question

If I don't find these german knee pads, then I'll buy some pro knees since I hear so many good things about it, but does it make it feel like your kneeling on air??? :O

Mike, why do you think setters knees will go bad from not using knee pads? Hell I might have genetically superior knees..

Hi Scotty,
From what i've seen from the old timers...before kneepads were invented, have had knee problems from aches to major surgery..it catches up with you at some point, but if you have genetically superior knees, you're one of the lucky ones. Cheers mate

Scotty, if you tap your knee caps do you get a hollow sound?

It's the next best thing TO it. What they do is distribute your weight along your whole shin, rather than focusing it right on the knee, and because of that, your knees feel 100 times better at the end of the day than they would otherwise. I'd swear that those things (the Proknees) are the only reason I'm still able to set tile.
