purchasing tile

I have recently started selling tile to my builders as well as installing it. I am getting most my tile from Daltile, but was wondering if anyone could offer some other resources of where I might get a builders grade tile? By builders grade, we all know that means CHEAP. I can't buy from a lot of distributors because I don't have a "store front". Any suggestions?

Here we have a couple places that have samples of all types of flooring and they only sell to the trade. It is a showroom where I can send my clients to look at tile without having to go to each distributor showroom. I can tell my clients to come home with the product name and number and I can sell it. OR I can tell the showroom what type of markup I want. They will apply it and sell right there to the customer and send me a check. I don't need to worry about collecting and accounting for the sales tax. Pretty sweet deal and best of all is the price. I actually can get Daltile cheaper here than when I purchase directly at Daltile 2 blocks away.

Hey Dean,

We buy alot of tile from BPI in Memphis. A.O., Marrazi, Crossville, and others. They also carry alot of builder grade type tiles. Another company named Brandon Co. carries alot of builder grade tile, not sure what part of TN they are in. I will find out tomarrow and let you know. Not to sure if they sell to installer like Dal-Tile. I will find that out also.

BPI is the one that won't sell to me, cause I have no showroom. Forgot about Brandon Co. they are in Nashville. Also have a Louisville Tile in Nashville.

I'm in the same boat as Jerry. It's a real good deal since their is a huge selection and no overhead for me.

Hey Dean,

Talked with my BPI and Brandon sales reps today. They both want store front buisness to sell to. They won't sell to contractors, like Dal does.

Dean,

You could build a fake storefront, like what they did in Blazing Saddles.

There could be other advantages to a "front", as well.
