A Tile Contractor's Son Races

I received an email from Joey's proud mother:

"Just a quick note on Joey. He has been asked by the Frank Marotta Auto Show to display his car and sign autographs this weekend at the Connecticut Expo Center!

Joey and his car will be on display all weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). He is scheduled to sign autographs Saturday afternoon.

I made up some cards for him to sign and I've attached one to show you."

That is way cool Henry. Go Joey.. go!!

I wish there had been folks like you and your products back when I was in my heyday. I thought unsanded thinset was the cat's meow upon using it back in the early 80's as opposed to pure cement over fresh floated mud walls and soaking tile in a tub.

That said...... here is my picture. I've spent years looking for a picture of my Dad when he was young as all pictures of him and his family were lost to fire. Here he is at 19 yrs. of age just before his first flight into war where his B-24 was shot down over Germany. Only two of the crew of 11 survived. The shot was taken on the Azores islands circa Jan.1944. He was the top turret gunner. Dad survived 15 months in a concentration
camp that was liberated by Gen. Patton and the first Army and came home to eventually to become a Broward County pioneer after incorporating and developing the City of Lighthouse Point. I am very proud to be one of his kids.
He always had time for us and the Family.

He is no longer with us but I will always remember him and his love for Family and raising kids properly. Mom too......!!!

My Pop....

Was he also the flight engineer? I seem to remember that's who manned the top turret, at least in B-17's.

Thanks Paco,,, I am

I do not know Steve but from my research and Dad's old info I believe there was a dedicated Flight Engineer on B-24's. Three different iterations of the aircraft were produced during its production and the needs of the war.

Off to watch grandkids playing baseball....

Wow Richard......

I just finished readin' "Unbroken" (a book you may find interesting) by Laura Hildebrand of "Seabiscut" fame.

It's the story of Olympic runner Louis Zamperini, his bombardier experiences in a B24 in the Pacific theater, his un-believable time aboard a life raft in the Pacific, his un-imaginable experiences in Japanese POW camps, and his ultimate regaining of a remarkable life.

As soon as I saw your Dad's pic.... I began re-reading that book in my mind.
I bet your Dad's story would be equally remarkable.

Richard, great picture with an equally great story. The older I get the more I seek the family stories.

Donnie, Interesting you mention that. A group from my high school just started a page on Facebook titled " Remembering Ft. Pierce" Started talking about old time, places and people that centered around our days and events. It has really been interesting to say the least.

Seeing you Jammin, makes me want to get another guitar.
Maybe at the next mud meet, we can jam. It seems to me that there is a lot of musicians in this trade.
