Mapei Flexcolor CQ

So I got a new tile magazine today, and I see a full page add for Mapei Flexcolor CQ. Does anyone know anything about this? A quick search on JB and on the 'net didn't turn up much. Maybe being revealed at Surfaces???

I really like Mapei products, but/and I really like Fusion for a premium grout. Is this Mapei's equivalent? Sure hope so!

Advertises no mixing, no sealing, no staining, no efflorescence. Course you know how adds are, tho.

Maybe they only wanna sell it across the pond?

Gonna need more than six colors to make it catch on very fast, though.

I went to a mapei demo a few months back. We played with this grout a little, I must say I was impressed.
joints stayed full, it cleaned as easy as spectra lock, and looked good.
The 6 colors was the drawback, but I was told they should have all colors before long

oops.... I was mistaken. We played with kerapoxy cq.
which is available in 25 trendy colors.
I haven't seen the flex

Yes, Flexcolor CQ is MAPEI's ready to use, professional grade grout. The TDS in the previous post is for an older Flexcolor product but the CQ was just launched last week at Surfaces (we tweeted about it! http://ow.ly/i/4qQbY)

CQ is a coated quartz that lets Flexcolor CQ be used for glass tiles and Abrasion Resistance (PEI) 0 and 1 tiles (test the surface first, but we've had good luck with surfaces that would be scratched with typical aggregates). In our tests, we have found that our formulation cleans more easily than competitor's products because the coated quartz produces the color of the grout.

Flexcolor CQ is ready for light foot traffic in 24 hours and for intermittent moisture (showers and tub surrounds) after 7 days. It remains flexible unlike competitor's products which can dry out and become powdery over time. We're excited to add Flexcolor CQ to our line because it combines ease of application, color consistency, and chemical/stain resistance in one bucket. Plus it remains workable for up to 1 year after opening.

Several colors have been produced already and more are being produced each day. I'm working with our product manager to put together something special for John Bridge users who want to try the product. For sure by Coverings we will have the details worked out so we can start getting some into your hands. Meanwhile, keep bugging your MAPEI distributors for a bucket to try!

Would love to try this grout Dan!

I saw something about it on the mapei facebook page a while back. Have a love/hate relationship with kerapoxy. Something more user friendly would be great. Kerapoxy was pretty overkill for a basic shower I thought anyhow.

Free stuff for John Bridge members

For anyone interested in trying Flexcolor CQ, please send me your name, mailing address, and email address in a private message. In March we will begin sending out trial kits (yes, including a t-shirt!) with a bucket of the product to try. Flexcolor CQ is a ready-to-use, commercial grade grout that is easier to apply than an epoxy but more color-fast and stain resistant than a cement based grout with no mixing and no compromises. We would love to hear your feedback on the product.

I would hope the good folks at Mapei would also want you to specify a grout color with your request. The test might be a lot more useful if you had a color your customer might want on her tiles, eh?

Now that I've read their data sheet, looks like it's available in only three colors. Gonna narrow the testing requests a bit I would think, but you can still test it in one of the available colors. Maybe Dan will tell us when a more complete color line will be available.

Presuming you're willing to do your testing on an actual installation, of course. I'll hafta request me a bucket to test, but I always like to do my grout testing with whatever the manufacturer calls black. If they can get that one right they should be able to deal with most any color, seems like.

Looks like black ain't one of the three current colors.

Thanks, Dan, our members like free stuff.

Attached are the TDS and a flyer on Flexcolor CQ. The product comes in 26 colors. I've had several responses from people interested in a trial bucket, please pass the word to others who may be interested.

Just a reminder that I'll need name, mailing address, and email address to process your sample requests. I've had a few come in missing one element or another. Glad to see there is significant interest in the product, I don't want to leave anyone out who is interested in trying it.

Dan, what can the consumer expect to pay for this product?

P.M. with what retailer will expect to pay through distribution.

This product is positioned between a cementitious grout and an epoxy grout. It's cheaper than the urethane grouts that are out there and cost competitive with the other ready to use grouts that have recently become popular. I'll PM you too but I'll have to refer you to someone in sales, I'm a technical guy. The less I try to talk to you about dollars, the better off we'll both be...
