Shower Pan Waterproofing - Which method?

The "shower pan specialists" I talk to are all hot-mop guys, and their line is "This is the only tried and true method" -- but they don't have to live with it long-term like the tile guy does.

What do you recommend/prefer for waterproofing the pan- Hot-mop, Vinyl/CPE, or Kerdi? (pre-slope, of course, regardless the liner)
