saltillo tile 11"x11"

I need to replace some saltillo tile in my house. The problem is that the size of my tile is 11" by 11". All I can find anywhere is 12 x 12. Any advice is appreciated.

Sandra, call one of our resident saltillo experts, Hector, at Ft. Worth Brick and Tile. He'll know if it's available. http://www.fwbrickandtile.com/

Welcome, Sandra.

Do like Mikey said and do tell us if you find young Hector. Last time I tried to visit him at his showroom it looked empty and there weren't neither no Hectors nor his very attractive little wife there.

Tell him it's necessary for him to make an appearance here soon. Or else!

Hi Sandra,

If you measure the 12X12 Saltillo tiles you'll find they very from 11-1/2 down to 11-even. I've never seen one that's exactly 12 inches.

Thumbs down Fort Worth TILE COMPANY

Yeah I was looking for 11"x11" Saltillos myself and took the advice of contacing the FORTH WORTH TILE COMPANY and was highly dissapointed by their unprofessionalism. I asked if they carried the size and Hector kept giving me the run-around about whether they carried that size or not. In doing business, if you don't carry that size JUST simply say so but don't be shady about it...

Hi Charles. Sorry to hear that. Over the years I've had to deal with a lot of different stores that have Saltillo tiles and have found that they vary in size from 11 inches to 12 inches. But they all call it 12x12 Saltillo. So, if you're trying to match a size, you have to find out from each store what size they have. And even doing that, the size might vary within each pallet of tile.

I remember a job we did back in the mid-seventies, the homeowners added an entryway and we had to tie into an old Saltillo floor that had oddball size Saltillos of about 10x10. We had to cut down 12x12's to fit and try to slightly round the edges with a rubstone. Wasn't fun but we got the job done. That might be what you have to do.

unprofessional

I am also looking for 11 by 11 saltillo tile and was referred to the Fort Worth store. Talked to Hector once sent him pictures of what I needed and I have yet to hear from him. It has been months. I leave a message daily and nobody answers. They must pick up their messages because you can still leave one. Are they even open still? Is there another place that anyone recommends. tired of calling and being ignored.

It seems as though 11x11 inch Saltillo tile was more easily available in the 1970's?

I found this company in Fort Worth, Texas - maybe they can help you? Looks like they can stain tiles to match your Saltillo?

This company in Little Rock was of great help to me a few years ago when I was trying to match some impossible-to-find tiles for a restoration project, but I'm not sure if they offer Saltillo tiles.

But they might know of someone who could help you if they cannot?

(I'm not a pro, just DIY-er.)

Best of luck!
