signs you may be a tile nerd...

1. you constantly bump into people because you're always looking at the floor in restaurants, malls, etc.
2. you pay more attention to the wall tile than the urinal iwhen using public bathrooms
3. you critique EVERY tile installation and design you see
4. you take it personal when friends or relatives go with someone else
5. you take it REAL personal when friends or relatives don't ask for your professional opinion or advice.
6. you can't believe the tax dollars spent on installing Vinyl Composite Tile in schools over REAL tile. (this is a particular pet peeve of mine)

How 'bout some more...

how about you get so into discussing the intricate details of how to best to the job to the point that you scare customers into not hiring you...
this happened to me before I adopted the "say only what is completely necessary" approach to bidding jobs

•You often come back from the bathroom at a restaurant saying "You gotta see the tile in there!", while your friends roll their eyes.

•You hate all the "DIY" shows but you can't help but watch(cringe) when you see tile.

•When browsing in Home Depot or Lowe's you take a quick stroll through the tile department, just for kicks.

•You have "Tile Letter" or some other tile related magazine on the back of your toilet.

•Your significant other now knows more about tile than they ever wanted to, and is sick of hearing about it.

•You go dumpster diving for spackle buckets, and know not to open the one with a lid. Paint buckets are your favorite.

You complain so frequently and so vehemently about the inaccuracy of tile articles you read that your wife tells you to shut up and write a book . . . and you do.

Well, she didn't tell me to shut up, but she did (in an irritated voice) say, "Why don't you write a book"?

And yes, I share all of the previously listed traits.

You have to pass your hand on top of every tile you see on walls and floors and check for lippage, then you knee down and check for the reflections and hollow spots, you doing this with total disregards on what other people in the lobby of the hotels, restaurants ,malls may think of you as a weirdo!! Also checking if the layout is done right. Yap, we are freaky people!

You lean over to your wife during a movie and whisper in her ear ..."look at the tile floor in the hotel, wow"

When you walk through the tile aisle at HD in thinset covered pants, company hat, and tape measure/tools in your pockets and stare at the poor sucker working there virtually DARING him to ask you if you need any help.

Mebbe that's just me.
