10% less on parts A and B. OK, I guess I can do that.

Which brings me to my next question. I was wondering if I could/should grout the walls and floor at the same time. If not which one first?

Could I use the same mixture on the floor. The floor is only 20 sq ft.

Thanks,

Cover the floor with a drop cloth or other means of protection, then do the walls. After you clean up the walls, do the floor. Do not try to do too much at one time.

Do I caulk first BEFORE I grout? Do I caulk EVERY 90 degree change in plane?

I was going to use this caulk:

http://www.colorriteinc.com/colorsil.htm

But I now think that I should use the matching laticrete colored caulk with the Spectralock. Agreed?

Thanks,

caulk after you grout. leave the spaces you will caulk clean of grout. Once the grout has hardened, tape off lines, spread your caulk, then immediately peel the tape.

yes.caulk every 90 degree change of plane between walls or major elements, you do not need to caulk for example the interior of a shower niche, but you do need to caulk the transition from floor to a knee wall. But only interior angles, not outside corners.

and yes, use the matching Latisil caulk.

And try and get the Spectralock Pro if you can.

just be careful to keep those 2-part grouts off the skin! even the wash water during clean-up gave me the worst rash i've ever had. much worst than poison ivy. now i put on a cheap plastic rainsuit top and gloves with a looong cuff to keep it off my arms.

. . . er, now that i think about it, it was opticolor brand, not spectralock. but it was from washing the grout off the tiles and getting my arms wet with the wash water. now that i'm gun-shy about it, i'd be careful with any 2-part epoxy-like grouts.

I did my entire shower and just mixed the entire contents of all 3 parts. Doing the walls wasn't particularly difficult once you get the hang of it. Didn't have a problem with sag. you're going to drop a lot, especially at first. put down clean plastic and have a helper with a spoon and bucket. as soon as something drops the helper picks it up so you can reuse it. This stuff is too spendy to leave on the plastic like you would Portland grout. other than that I found it easier to get good results with Spectralock than Portland.

Jane - those joints are pretty big. Be sure to run the estimator on the Laticrete site. You could be looking at a pretty spendy grout job.

edit: never mind, Jane - just noticed you've only got 20 sq ft. can't be too bad.
