Need Schluter Decking Installer in Los Angeles
Can anyone recommend an installer who can do natural stone second floor decks over living space using the Schluter buildup system in the LA area?
I want to take advantage of the Schluter warranties but I don't know how to find experienced Schluter installers. Should I expect to be successful with any experienced trades who follow the Schluter guidelines?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Gary

Hi Gary,
I've moved this over to the Pro's Hangout for them to see.

Are you talking about Ditra?

I hope he's talking about the whole exterior system which Ditra is only a part of. Gary, if you don't pick up someone here who is in your area and has the knowledge of what you're requesting, call Schluter. They should be able to refer someone to you who has experience with their over occupied space system.

Thanks John and Matt
I have carefully examined the details of the Schluter exterior buildup in their Ditra installation handbook. I am also aware that Schluter appears to be the only organization I have come across, either manufacturer contractor or whatever, who will warranty a tile installation against cracking and whose warranty will cover repair and/or replacement of the tile. No one else has anything remotely similar.
I am further persuaded that Ditra is a good idea by the many comments I have read on this forum, the materials I have reviewed in the TCNA handbook, and the technical features of the Ditra installation handbook and other similar, although not as comprehensive, design guides produced by other manufacturers.
Although the Schluter details seem straightforward to implement, I would prefer someone who has direct experience with the Schluter product.
If you know someone who might be interested, I would definitely like to talk to them.

Hi Gary
I have experience with Ditra, that is the only Schluter product I have personally used. I would be happy to read up on other products such as Troba, if need be..
Send me a PM if you would like to talk...
Thanks
John

Hi Gary,
I can recommend John Corley.
Also, you can call Schluter. They regularly conduct training sessions in Anaheim.

Thanks for your replies, John C., John B., and Dan--will call Monday
Thanks for your help, guys. I will call John C. tomorrow. I don't know how to send PMs but I have John's website, so I am all set. Thanks again for your help. This website has really been a great resource for my project, and fun to read, too. Thanks to all of you.
