Thanks.

Thank you guys. Looks like I can't go wrong with either one. I will go with Ultracolor Plus FA due to faster cure time.

Neo - From a durability standpoint (stain resistance, ease of cleaning), especially for floors, I wouldn't mess with anything other than an Epoxy.

Some other products (read:FlexColor CQ) are easier to apply for sure, and worked great for us in tub surrounds, very consistent application and color, but when it comes to floors we understand the housekeepers aren't going to take a wet mop into the room every time. Get something that cleans easily and is minimally porous. For us, that was an epoxy grout.

Cheers :-)

I have been thinking about using Flex color in my house. I just started installing 8 x 48 wood plank. I have 1 room ready to grout. Typically I use ardex FS grout but their color palette isn't very good.

I used it for the first time tonight on my floor and I really like it. Te joints were really full and the color was on point. I have some urethane haze on it. I plan on using some blaze on it after it cures.

Karl Windex works well for that film and maybe a razor blade depending on the tile. If that is what you are talking about

Mapei representative I have a question. Why is Lowe’s selling some colors of flex color cq for $49 and other colors for $89 both are listed at 1 gallon lol that makes absolutely no sense and I would love to give this a try I have about 5 gallons to buy but not at $89 I would go for $49 though. Could this be a mistake on their part?

They package it in .5 gallon, 1 gallon, and 2 gallon units. I don't think they have access to the 2 gallon units. You might be seeing pricing for the .5 and 1 gallon units.

It's possible that they are closing out some colors at that location and offering them for half price. Lowes controls the pricing on the MAPEI products there, we don't have much say in how much they charge. Generally installers who try the product quickly realize that they save quite a bit of time by cleaning as they go and not having to come back to seal the next day.

I will say this about using urethane grouts. I still had streaks no matter what I did. I grouted small areas and would wash after grouting about 10 Sq Ft. Later as the floor dried it had streaks of residue. So I used Aqua mix heavy duty cleaner and that did the trick. I think that with tiles that are matte finish it can be difficult to keep the binder from adhering to the tile surface.
