first time laying penny tile
any tricks i should know? mosaics arnt used a lot here but obviously i have laid plenty, is there anything to look out for

The big thing is to watch your spacing between the sheets. Surprisingly easy to see sheet lines

havnt finished it yet and they are hex tiles not round, thankfully going with dark grout as some of the sheets didnt join together ........ also as you can see in the pic the bathroom is lying on its side which made it hard to fall the water into the drain

Yeah the water is going to end up all over the wall with a dramatic slope like that! 
For me the trick with all small mosaics anywhere is the prep as smooth and flat as glass.

I also like to lift my blade up on my saw, have a 1/4" piece of hardi cut to my tray size to lay tile on and set blade where it barely rides the top of the hardi. Makes ANY cuts on mosaic a breeze no matter how small and delicate.

On larger areas like a bath floor, I always set mosaics against a straight edge. Then using another straight edge and framing square, I can set that edge on a 90* off the first edge. Keeps it straight and square.

Just picked up some anodized magnesium L-edges from TroxellUSA Davy, WOW! They surprised me with how they are built, very sturdy, frogs hair shy of a 1/8th".
