Then dig out as much as you can because new silicone rarely sticks to old silicone.

So just to be clear, there should be no issues with using bleach or a mold remover in the crack before applying my new silicone bead.

You do want a clean, dry surface for the silicone to stick to. A shop vac coupled with an air compressor to blow out the dirt and water is our usual plan of attack. Probably just the air hose would work, but since the shop vac is on site anyway....

Thanks Paul.....I plan on scrubbing the mold, then placing a fan towards the area for a day......and the shop vac is already on site!!!
