First Mud (bathroom) Floor Question

Hi everybody.

I've done at least 20 mud shower floors but now feel like I'm ready to do a larger (5' x 8') and flatter bathroom floor. I removed the existing mud floor and am going back with the same in a bathroom that is 3' larger now. I have one simple straight forward question to ask but welcome any other advice for a first timer.

1) Should the diamond lath simply be stapled down, like a shower floor, or should I nail it down with roofing nails, like the one I pulled out?

Tom, I assume this is on a wood subfloor and not a slab. If so, staples are fine. Put them about every 4 to 5 inches apart and overlap the wire a couple inches. Be sure and put the tar paper down first.

Just to be clear, are we talking regular 3/8" staples or staples from an Air Nailer? I don't have an Air Nailer

No air nailer needed, just one of them manly staple guns made out of real American steel.

Yeah, I use a Duofast hammer tacker, 1/2 inch staples.....sounds like a wood subfloor.
