legal advice needed
My wife purchased a purse 2 years ago for her sister. It broke recently and her sister sent it for repair to brand office in Czech (where she lives). They told her it's a fake. My wife is very embarrassed, her sister paid 1k+ for the purse. My wife ordered it from U.S. web site, they're still in business and actually member of BBB. My wife was suspicious about the low price, but was repeatedly assured by the seller that low price is low due to season sell out. She had not contact the company yet, what is the best approach to solve the problem? Credit card company refused to help due to long time from date of purchase. Thank you
Michal

There probably is not much you can do, I hate to tell you. Your best bet would be to contact the Attorney General's office in your state, and the one in the state which the company selling the fraudulent goods is located. They would be able to point you in the right direction (and it shouldn't cost you). As far as getting a refund or authentic replacement, I would say that is very, very unlikely. Concerning the BBB, people pay to join it. It isn't remotely what it claims to be, in my opinion. Any operation can join the BBB, even if they are complete shysters. Nonetheless, file a complaint with them as well. At the very worst, you will help stop other people from being defrauded. Sorry for your bad experience.

The first step would be to contact the company, and give them the opportunity to correct the problem. If they don't, then you should file a complaint with the BBB. They will act as a mediator between you and the company, and try to work things out so the complaint can be resolved. The company does not have to be a member for them to do this. Most companys will do anything it takes to resolve a complaint filed with the BBB, if they want to have future sales. The complaints are listed on their website for anyone doing research about a buisness.

I think your biggest hurdle will be the time that has lapsed. It's been 2 years since the purchase. The internet is a powerful tool now so I would contact them to see how they respond. Talk to the highest person you can within the company and let them know you will raise a stink on Yelp and the BBB.
My job is to make sure we are visible on the internet as well as maintain a good reputation. Smart shoppers do research and bad reviews can kill and online business.

What Matt said.
If the seller is an authorized seller for that brand and that brand says it is a fake then the seller should make things right. I don't believe they have an obligation to do so though.
please note - my advice is common sense. You want legal advice - hire a lawyer.

Forgive my ignorance in lady's fashion accessories but if the discounted price that your wife paid was $1,000+, how much more was the regular price? You don't have to say the price, just more or a lot more.
I don't think I would ever pay that much to buy anything online unless I could be reassured that the store will stand by their reputation like Saks.
I guess if the store won't do anything then you could always report them to the manufacturer. I won't get you a replacement purse but at least it will stop them cheating others.

I would contact the maker and tell them that the seller is selling knock-off's and using their name to lure people to buy them.

Full refund granted. Seller insists it's original. I wouldn't buy a purse for 1k, but it all depends. My neighbor is willing to pay $2000 annually for smokes - she would be better off with that purse.
