4 local fisherman missing here
A lifelong friend of mine (Jay Bjaranson)is among the missing as their Commercial fishing boat sank Saturday off our coast. I'm fairly certain they will not be found alive as the water temp and weather this time of year makes survival for this amount of time all but impossible. This marks the second close friend in a year to be lost on a Crab Boat here.

Your thoughts and Prayers for the Families are much appreciated.

It's a tough life to be sure...Most of my Family has worked on the Ocean or in the Woods and it's beyond dangerous...I went out twice when I was broke in college...two trips Crabbing and that was enough to keep me satisfied I didn't need money that bad. I'm far from conservative when it comes to taking some risks ... but I never understood the risk of commercial fishing and logging ..I don't know why people do it.

Prayers for your friends, Trask. At the same time, cheers for the freedom to choose the level of risk we find appropriate for ourselves. The bravest among us are the ones that push society forward.

Trask, Wiley and I are so sorry. We'll ask Clyde to add them to our Prayer List.

Sorry to hear that Trask. That is just horrible. Back in February a good friend of mine son fell through the ice and drown. I knew the kid since he was born. He was 29.

Our prayers are with you Trask. I grew up in Brookings and had a few friends dads die at sea. Vary sad, hang in there man!

Tough business that, Trask. Sorry about your friend.
I spent many hundreds of hours flying around in Coast Guard aircraft searching for folks like that. Sometimes we found'em, most times not.
