Yep -- 3/4" ply + Ditra + tile (3/4" + 1/8" + 3/8") gets you to 1-1/2" total. Add in another 1/8" allowance for thin-set mortar and you're still under the 1-3/4" maximum.

Jeremy, have you tried Hydroment grout? Mix it with water instead of their latex admix and it meets ANSI 118.6 requirements for standard un-modified cement based grout.
