I brought the tiles to stone fabricator, they used oversized bridge saw, cut it precisely. Cost me bottle of nice whiskey.

Look into epoxy based paints or use exterior paint - it's made to hold up any wather.....
There are epoxy and cement based product...

Doesn't matter, I place the leg under window jamb tiles.
If you have miter saw, miter the corners and put tightly together. It looks very nice. Just cut slow. It will not hurt the blade.
