Seriously, it's more about what ToolGuy said. Imo there are better products out there to use instead of Hardibacker these days.

Garbage. Those "handmade" tile need wedge spacers to keep them honest and in line. That cut around the window sill should be one piece. The grout will only make that tile look worse.

The mud bed is more porus than you think. Water goes through it pretty easy. The preslope/liner/mudbed shower floor has been a tried and true method for decades.

Jim, from what I'm reading,there is no preslope, there is no liner and the water proofing method is Redgard. Sounds like the leak is just at the drain body, and no where else, according to the OP
