Edit: just looked at other bathroom, they clearly used sealer, i can see it...

I tried the taping off method but ended up abandoning it because i couldnt get bullnose finish to match.

I dont mind doing full tiles and just taping off the next full tile but i need the finish...

The best i can describe it is the dumbdumb poured slc in all the dips and now we got hills and dips.

It is .75" from slab to sill but even if i filled to the lip we'd have 1/2" hills elsewhere...

It was laminate/foam underlayment. I thought i would have to take out a few dips but when i pulled it up i found a previous dumbdumb had mixed up some SLC too thick, poured it out and walked away....
