I'd be tempted to try carbon fiber. It lays up like fiberglass. Just just make it to bolt to the studs. If you can make a bicycle out of it, it'll hold up...

That's a very bold color! I'd stick to white on most unpainted surfaces. Since you like the color in the pic, why not go with the whole scheme? Yellow, white, black accents.
