I have a 1700 S/F Vein Cut 12x36 install coming up and think this could really save me some time and headaches. To those that have used the system, do you think it would be possible to use just 3 straps per 12x36, using 3 on one side and none on the ends?

Hello everybody,
Called in to drill 20 holes in 3/8" porcelain tile set by another installer. (Homeowner and he had a disagreement).
8 holes will require insert. 12 holes just screw into blocking.
Looked pretty foolish burning up my "arrow-head" bits and not accomplishing much.
Searched "history" to not much avail.
Looked at both MasterWholesale (Seattle) and Contractors Direct catalogs. Nothing impressed me.
What brand or type of drill bit do you use? Where do you get it?
What insert do you recommend? Don't want to use a "molly" if at all possible.
I want something that even a dufus like myself can show up with and finish the job.
My BFF "Joe the Plumber" usually installs all of the trim. (Should have referred him, but I need the work).
Any and all suggestions welcome.
Thanks,
Mike

I've been lurking on this board for some time.... biding my time until my remodel was ready for tile.... and now you're stuck with me! I have a relatively simple question that I can't seem to find an "exact" answer to. Yes, I did search for one in the previous threads. Yes, I did read the Kerdi book. Yes, I've seen countless pictures of what I'm about to ask you for help with. How much extra water do I add to my Kerabond in order for it to be "loose" enough on my kerdi install? I've always mixed thinset according to what the bag says and I'm just too scared to guess. Thanks, in advance, for putting up with this one.

What Tool For Christmas

My wife is going to start asking me what I want for Christmas and I always enjoy tools. However this year, I'm coming up blank. Sure, I would like a Fein or a cordless framing nail gun, but got to keep it more reasonable in price.

Any suggestions?
