I'm getting ready to tile my tub/shower wall. Before I deployed, I hung yellow mold resistant drywall thinking I'd hang tile on it. Since I've been back, I have enough doupt in my mind, that I've changed my mind. So (plus I forgot the moisture barrier), I plan on using cement board.

Can I apply poly over the drywall, and then cement board, and then the tile? Save me a day or two in labor, plus I think it would provide a little more sound proffing since the shower wall is shared by the kitchen and dining room. Thanks.

I don't like sheetrock behind CBU. You are only as good as you're weakest link and , despite the CBU, you still have sheetrock in a wet area.

Since you have sheetrock now, why not Kerdi the walls?

I agree with what Jason said.

That's what I figured. will look into Kerdi system. A bit hesitant, since I 've used CSB before. You go with what you know. Thanks.
