was going to put up tile in a bathroom halfway up wall. it has semigloss paint with sand texture, 1/2" drywall. searched and found that it is best to scuff sand walls then install tile. two questions
1-would kerabond/keralastic be best?
2-what about drywall deflection if walls get leaned against hard?(kids bathroom):bonk:

1) Kerabond/keralastic is very good.

2) 1/2" drywall on studs 16" or less apart is pretty tough, but there's no guarentee that anything will stand up to a couple of kids' worst intentions. You can install blocking to beef up the walls if it makes you feel better.
