Hi folks,

Long time. :)

As you might know, for some time there has been an argument as to what to do with the old Rosehill school building. It is presently used as a community center, and certain people, including me, would like it to remain that way. There are others who want to tear it down and build a new town hall in its place.

Passing this along from Terry Preshaw:

Dear John:

I am one of the people trying to save Rosehill from the wrecking ball. Today we
heard from a panel of experts that it would be cheaper and make sense to renovate
Rosehill instead of destroying it.

Any letters of support you and your group can send to:

editor@mukilteobeacon.com

editor@snoho.com

editor@heraldnet.com

opinion@seattletimes.com

would be greatly appreciated. The election is coming up and we want people to
reme, ber that it is the current group of incumbents who are so gung-ho to destroy
Rosehill and replace it with a Bellevuesgue city hall.

Thanks,

Terry Preshaw, member Friends of the Community Center

I wonder when the demolition is going to take place. I'm sorry to see the old building go. It stores a lot of fond memories for me. Its architecture does leave much to be desired, though. :)

As an aside, Panther Lake School in Kent is still alive and in use, although it's surrounded by portable classrooms. I started first grade there in 1948. My older brother, Don, attended the higher grades there before he went on to (and graduated from) Kent High School. Don is 11 years older than I am.

Not much in the way of architecture at Panther Lake, either, but it's still getting a lot of use. :)
