With all due respect to our friends in Los Angle eeze, I'm going to get ahead of myself and procalim this years participants in the fall classic as Philadelphia and its neighbor, ninety miles to the north, New York. This is a dream match-up for me as the Yankees represent all that I loathe in the sports world. This is one of those, high risk, high reward sporting events. Lose, and I will take on the shame of million 's of Phillies sports fans. Win, and I will celebrate for a thousand days and nights. I'm gonna say; Phillies in seven games.
GO PHILLIES!!!:

I have to agree with you on this Rick, I was at the one game in Philly when the Phils mashed the Dodgers 11-0.
I think I sent you a few text pics :D
after being with the fans and meeting some old friends there at the
ballpark and seeing them play I'm going to root for the Phils.:tup2:
1: tickets
2: new Philly ballpark (beautiful)
3: going nuts after Howards 3 run homer (nuts)
4: in the late Harry K's voice....."Struck Him Oooooout!" :D

the Yanks wont be so lucky :D

Yeah, I think it ends in Philly tonight. Hopefully, the Yanks will need seven but the way they are playing, I wouldn't be surprised if they win it in game five.

Wanted to tell you guys my first pro baseball experience......
Stepdad took me to see a Royals game in Kansas City, didn't know it yet but I saw some great stuff that day. The biggest event was Bo Jackson hitting 2 homeruns off of Randy Johnson from the Mariners.
Bo was my favorite...... he lives about 10 minutes away from me house now...

Bo Jackson is probably the best athlete I have ever seen. The man was a total freak of nature. Who comes back from hip replacement and plays pro ball???

We're here, we're watching...
Utley izza beast. Did you see that stat? Only other lefty to hit two HR's in a WS game against a lefty, was the Babe in '28. Impressive.
CC couldn't keep from letting his FB land in the sweet spot. Nasty.
Marte's stock just went up gettin' out Utley looking. Freakin' walks are killing us.

It amazes me that most sports writers pick the Yankees to win and that the Yankees are 2-1 favorites in Vegas. I guess all that and a buck and a half will buy you a cup of coffee. GO PHILS!!!!!

Great performance by Burnett last night. His curve ball was ridiculous. Can't wait for the three games in Philly.
Brad Denny
10-31-2009, 10:50 PM
I just caught the last of the game, not the whole.
I did get to see the replay of ARod's HR. Glad they went in to take a look, tough call.
I also saw Pettite's hit. It's nice to see an AL pitcher make a contribution at the plate.
Phillie's are dangerous. Rivera is a huge advantage.

good hustle by Damon.
but the Yanks out hit the Phils again.
and at the top of the 9th inning getting 3 runs is bad for the Phils.

Have you watched the games, John? Yanks have gotten the bounces and the timely hits. The games have been pretty even and could have gone either way. Phils could just as easily be up 3-1.

UUMMM DUH !
PHILADELPHIA (AP)-A Philadelphia newspaper has apologized to
readers for mistakenly running an ad congratulating the Phillies on
winning back-to-back World Series titles. The three-quarter-page
Macy’s ad is on the back of the front section and features a T-shirt
with the Phillies logo, the commissioner’s trophy and the phrase
“Back To Back World Series Champions.”
the paper deeply regrets the error.

kate42
11-02-2009, 09:27 PM
Now we're going to the top of the 9th inning, Phillies still ahead 8 - 5.
Can they (the Phillies) close it and bring it back to NY,
Madsen in relief.
Oh Oh, Posada hits a double, nobody out.
Another base hit by the Yankees and nobody out. Ouch.
Double play, run scores, two out and Philles up 8 - 6. Damon at bat. He gets a hit, Texeira at bat. He strikes out.
Phillies win! :)

Great game and great series!
I gotta give a :clap1: to Victorino for playin' through the injury, it had to hurt. Lee had another excellent night and I thought the Yanks were gonna come all the way back after they pulled him. Madsen handled the close well.
Oh, and Utley izza beast...
Hopefully Petitte will lead us to victory in NY on Wednesday!
Brad Denny
11-02-2009, 10:18 PM
I love stats.
Did you see that Utley has tied Jackson ('77) for most HR's inna WS, while Howard has tied Wilson ('80) for the most strike outs inna WS?
Baseball is a crazy game.
JTile
11-02-2009, 11:07 PM
Not just that, but didn't they both tie their respective records back to back? As in, one record set, next batter, another record set.
Brad Denny
11-03-2009, 04:53 AM
I think so!
tilerite
11-03-2009, 08:03 PM
Utley is in a zone that's usually reserved for Howard. Seems the Yanks are pitching around Howard and throwing strikes to Utley. The Yanks do not want to play us in a game seven. Tomorrow will be tough. I can't wait.
