Hi. We are going to hire someone to do a thorough cleaning and grout repair of the old ceramic tiles on our bathroom walls. He said that for stained grout, he would use an acrylic tile recolorant. Can anyone tell me anything about this? Good or bad idea? Thanks.
Welcome again, Organic. Please go to the UserCP, find Edit Signature and enter a first name there for us to use. :)
I'll move this to the Sealing forum for better results. This the same bathroom as in your previous thread about grout restoration?

Hi. Yes, same bathroom. :o
And thank you for relocating my thread.
Next Wednesday, I attempt to remove old peel-and-stick tile adhesive--with Citrus Solvent-- from my original ceramic floor. The day after, the tile cleaning/regrouting guy comes to do his small magic. I may find out, of course, that the original floor was covered because it's cracked (being 75 years old), but we shall see. . . .

Just seeing if my signature works. . .

Michelle is he coloring the tile or the grout? If the grout is discolored a good colorseal (grout colorant) is all that is needed after cleaning. If that is the case be sure he uses a professional brand and not a DIY product. We guarantee our colorsealer for 15 years after application. Since he has said "acrylic" that rules out the two most popular epoxy based DIY brands (that's a good thing).
If you need more information of colorsealing the grout, there are some FAQs on my website under the color seal tab. This should answer a lot of your questions.

Steve,
I have exhausted myself search on the internet for someone in my area who provides the cleaning/regrouting/sealing services that your company offers--and the two companies (franchises of larger outfits) I managed to find never responded to my inquiries. Do you happen to know of anyone in the Boston area to whom you can refer me?
Thanks so much.
