Hi,

I just had installed 13.25 x 13.25 glazed porecelain (montalcino Italgres or something like that) tile in my tub surround & ceiling as well as the floor. The grout used is Light Smoke Polyblend Sanded from HD. The grout is less than 1/4" but bigger then 1/8 inch, whatever that is? The grout has been in since 7/21/09. There are some minor pinholes scattered throughout, some very tiny & only noticeable by me that I will be filling in today.

Now for my question...how do I go about sealing the grout & which product should I use or is best suited for my needs? The bathroom is the main bath (and we have a 1/2 bath used by hubby & daughter to get ready in the am) shared by 5 people bathing mostly, with some showering. Since the grout has been put in no one has showered, but there has been some drywall dust that has been cleaned up. Do I need to clean the grout before sealing & where should I seal. I am kinda picky & don't like stains. I do have a rug in front of sink & tub but with 3 teenagers I want it protected as much as I can. Also once sealed what do I clean the shower/floor area with? I read alot about ph & what's good for grout & what's not but I am confused on how to proceed. Also I told all who bathe & shower to wipe everything dry that they can!!

THANKS VERY MUCH!!

Welcome, Joe. :)

That's sanded grout you've got there with the pin holes?

StoneTech Professional makes a good line of sealers and cleaning products for ceramic tile and stone applications.

You should need seal only your grout in your application and STP's Grout Sealer would be my choice. Lots of other brands out there, too. Some good, some not so much.

Go to the Tile Experts.com (http://www.tile-experts.com/categories.asp?id=69) site and look through the StoneTech products there. Sure to find just what you need.

My opinion; worth price charged.

Full Disclosure: Yes, we are a StoneTech Professional distributor. No, we don't get a commission from Tile Experts. :)
