Hi there everyone. I was wondering if I can use a scrubbing Machine for cleaning Saltillo Tile.
It is that big rotating machine that has 2 disks on the bottom and you can get a scrubbing pad for them?
Thanks

Hi Noe, Welcome! :)
Of course you can. What is the diameter of the brushes? What do you have available for cleaning chemicals? I don't advise using scrubbing pads on the floor though.

Great News. Well I am just starting to do my research. I have taken the task to be a do it yourselfer on more things than just the simples ones I used to do. So knw I am on tile, fllors etc.. just for my house.
So really do not have a list of chemicals just yet, From what i have read I guess I will try ammonica first and work my way up which hopefully I won;t have to. After stripping and cleaning I want to stain. I would like spanish oak color and I think Aqua Mix makes a good product for that.
Sealer still do not have a psticular in mind.
So in regard to the brushes, I have the machine so I still don;t know what pad I can get, I know you can buy several of them. I think it is probably between 12 and 18 inch diameter some where in there.
Thanks

Hi Noe :)
I didn't know that you wanted to strip the floor. Do you know what type of coating is on there presently?
Welcome, Noe. :)
In all my years of building and remodeling, that's one of the few jobs I just wouldn't do with any tool but a telephone; use that tool to call someone who does that sorta thing for a living.
Had a very extensive remodel ten or more years back that had some Saltillo floor that needed refinished. Not but about three-hunnert square feet. Thought I'd do it myownself but didn't have time. So I hired it out.
Having watched that one job I declared I'd never even think about doing one myownself. Nope, no way. Too much nasty chemicals and nasty equipment and nasty work.
Give somebody some dinero (they may want a good bit of it), pull up a chair (but not real close) and watch.
Then tell everbody comes to your house how it was really tough but you managed to pull it off without not no help at all. :D
My opinion; worth price charged.

Thanks guys, Since I have already started with other projects my cash flow is short. I had a 4k budget to redo my kitchen. I quoted everything out and it was about 13k. Countertops, back splash, lighting fixtures, doors, windows etc.. A complete kitchen makeover.
With the 4k I had just barely enough to by materials needed, etc.. So thats why I am doint it my self. If I would have gone with a contractor It was choose either one of what I wanted to do. SO here I am trying to make as much as possible with that money. I understand its a very difficult task but I guess at this point I just cannot back out or my wife will kill me.
In regard to the coating, I reall would not know. PUrchased the house as is 2 years ago and the kitchen tile is just horrible. The low traffic areas are perfect, but I would just much rather do everything again than to try and match what is good. Next sime since I know what was done to it, maybe just work on needed areas but for the time being I want to do all of it.
My only conern with thos brushes or pads was scrathing the floor as the sealer came off.
Thanks
Noe
