Hi guys,
I am a painting contractor living in NC.
Plese don't rip me a new one for asking the following question. I came here for professional advice.
Customer wants color of ceramic tile in shower changed, I know it shold be replaced but in this economy clients are looking for other options. Is there any product you would suggest?
TIA

Welcome, Lady. Please put a first name in a permanent signature line for us to use. :)

We'll wait here for a while to see what response you get, then we can move the thread to other of our forums if you're not getting any help.

I know there has been mention of some folks who advertise what you are suggesting. They generally pretend it's something other than painting the surface with an epoxy-based paint, but best I've been able to tell, it's painting the surface with an epoxy-based paint.

Never appealed much to me, neither aesthetically nor functionally, but it may be an option in some circumstances.

Don't suppose we'd need to tell you that prep is gonna be the most important part of the process, eh? :)

My opinion; worth price charged.

A good bathtub restoration will be able to spray it any color you like. It will look almost as good as new. Downside is, it does get dirtier a little quicker....

The bathtub restoration people do indeed paint walls as well as tubs. Have seen a few jobs done and... well beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Since they paint the grout as well as the tile, it looks a little funky to me. The all white ones I have seen aren't that bad, but any other color and the shiny grout lines just jump out at you. It is certainly a cheap(er) fix, but suggest you see a real completed job before you commit.

Nobody's paint will hold up or clean like a ceramic surface, but walls don't take the abuse a tub does so if they do it right it will be around for a while.
