Hi. We have a ceramic tile floor that was never sealed. (we put one on ourselves last year) It was/is badly stained and a lot of the grout won't come clean. We had a professional come in to clean it, he spent 2 1/2 hours trying to get it cleaned and remove the sealer, about half came off. The stains won't come out. The floor is less then 3 yrs. old. Do we have any options besides ripping the tile up? Could be put a laminate floor over it? This is a kitchen floor. Thanks so much to anyone that can help.

Welcome, Ocean. Please put a first name in a permanent signature line for us to use. :)

Good that you got yourself here to the right forum. I removed your other thread.

The good folks here on the Restoration forum will be better able to help you if you'll provide some more specific information.

Type of tile. You indicate ceramic, but be as specific as possible including brand and specific type, color, glaze if any, etc.

Type of grout and color.

Type of sealer and brand (you said both that it wasn't sealed and that your hired cleaner removed half the sealer).

Type of stains.

Photos are always helpful. We like pichers. :)

My opinion; worth price charged.

If the tile is fine and the grout is sound but merely stained, you sound like a good customer for ColorSeal. Search that term here or over at dirtygrout.com and you will find tons of info. I would hire somebody to do the work though. It is possible to do it yourself, but it is one of those things where 2nd or 3rd floor you do looks a lot better than the first one.
