So, what are you guys having to eat on the nations birthday? My family is partaking in some nice big juicy burgers with onion compote and toasted buns; deviled eggs; pasta salad; apple and cherry pie and much more that elludes me at the moment. And to top it all off, tomorrow we are having pulled pork which will be roasted for at least 12 hours. Yummy.:tup2:
We are having smoked deer ribs tonight and venison burgers tomorrow.

man I love venison.
my brother gets his share of deer during hunting season and the butcher makes everything from deer steaks, ground meat to sausage. he even cuts chip steaks for making venison cheese steaks.
I love the ground venison in lasagna.
we are doing the BBQ thing at the beach, probably hamburgers, hot dogs and all the other basic stuff.:tup2:

Used to eat Venison in England quite often, then someone gave us some over here, was good untill Jacqui found the bullet.
I arrow all my deer.
I put 4 in the freezer this year. 11 in the last 4 years.
We eat venison something at least once a week. :yo:

Bought some "organic" steaks yesterday that cost an arm and a leg as my granny would say.
A toss salad, potatoes (boiled, cubed) then cooked in olive oil with garlic, onions, yellow & red peppers. It's a healthy, yummy way to have potatoes me thinks :D Am also doing a stirfry veggie dish (snow peas, carrots, broccoli) and topped with slivered almonds.
For dessert - making an Acai bowl (see pic). It's chock full of berries, bananas, and Acai pulp. I use almond milk instead of soy. Top with granola and drizzle some honey, and you're good to go.

Look at what we will eat so soft you don't need a knife to carve it. Good times :usflag:

We had our big feast on Friday night. We had friends from Wisconsin visiting who were leaving the morning of the 4th. Our daughter, her husband, and their 3-year-old son joined us. We had baby backribs, a low country shrimp boil (http://www.johnbridge.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=64208&page=16 see #231) slaw, a couple of baguettes, a hotdog for Jeremy and lots of time to graze. I wish I had taken a picture of the spread, but things got a little hectic at the end before we put it all on the table. Now we have some good leftovers to graze on.

and Baked Beans...yum...on on the grill.
the condo on the beach was a blast, pool, ocean, tons of people.
just got crazy at night on the beach with thousands of people up and down it shooting off fireworks every 50 feet. some tempers flying after almost getting hit by some, drunks, the show was fun. that and the real fireworks the towns shot off you could see 3-4 shows down the whole coast. beautiful night also.

Sounds like a good time, Brian. We finished off our night by sneaking in to Tanglewood Park and watching their fireworks show for free. It wasn't something we planned but my nephews girlfriends mom lives on a street where the homes back up to Tanglewood's par three golf course so they invited us to park on their property and walk into the park through the hole in their backyard fence. It was so cool. Just a small group of us camped out on the golf course watching one of the area's best fireworks show.
