Hi,

I think I've settled on an enhancer rather than just a sealer for my bathroom project and I was just wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between Stonetech Enhancer and Enancer Pro? I know that the Enhancer is water based and the Pro is solvent based. Other than that, what are the differences?

If I'm sealing a bathroom (floor, tub/shower walls and ceiling and backsplash) would the Pro be better since it's a wet environment? Main tile is walnut travertine (honed) with dark emperador marble accent tile.

Difference in price for me in Canada is $45 for a quart of the Enhancer and $85 for a quart of the Pro. Not significant when considering the entire project, but if it's a waste to get the Pro then I'll stick with the Enhancer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan  :wohoo:

I have only used the enhancer pro so I can't say much about the enhancer. The pro is nice stuff. I have used a different brand of enhancer that was a water based and it worked nicely on travertine.

Can you get small samples of each? I know the local place I get mine has small samples so you can check how it will work on your stone.

Hi Dan :)

I'm a bit bias and will always recommend a solvent based sealer in a wet environment when I can. There are few exceptions. My opinion is that the Enhancer Pro is worth the extra $$.

Hi Dan -

The biggest difference between the two enhancers is nothing special. It is just two different formulations that achieve the same end result.
Enhancer Pro has been around longer, is a great water repellent and is UV resistant. It comes from the same family of products as our HD Exterior Sealer so it is a good choice for really wet environments.
Stone Enhancer was formulated later when customers started asking for a water-based version. Also turned out it was less expensive to make. Stone Enhancer has water and oil repellency but does not have much UV resistance so its best for indoors or areas without a lot of direct sunlight.
They also often enhance a little bit different, so if you can you might want to test both to see if one gives a color you like better.
Since your in Canada I cannot send samples across the border, but if you contact me I can direct you to our Canadian Reps who can help......

Hi Guys,

I actually had a couple of sample bottles sent to me a couple of years ago before the border regulations tightened up (or whatever caused the inability to send samples anymore). Tested them both out on the stone along with some Bulletproof (from a local store) and we like the enhanced look better.

From the sounds of things I think I'm going to go with the Pro, just because it sounds like it's better for my needs.

Thanks again!

Dan
