My "Ex" and her husband, an engineer rode out Katrina. He decided that there had to be a "Better Way" and took about designing a truly effective floodwall. Had this been in place, I'm convinced that the devestation that struck New Orleans would have been minimized. There is a bituthane coating on the structure...not mentioned in the video. I would be interested in your "take" on this. It does have FEMA and Corp of Engineers approval. Right now, they are trying to get acceptance of the system. It well could be the "Better Mousetrap." Thoughts?

Get the financial backing and something like that could save thousands of people.

I don't think that the money has much to do with it. They simply need to have ONE Community or Organization to incorporate it....and it would take off. Conversely, there is the thought of just selling the patent on it. IMHO, that would be the best thing. Imagine the guy that came up with the idea of mucic CD's? What would that patent be worth?

:neesie:

Oh yeah, you can Google "John Knost" and see more on it......

John Knost just set up a website with additional information on this design. Check it out. I'm curious if anyone has any comments or criticisms on the concept.

Interesting. I think the difficulty would come in the excavation. The water table would be at practically ground level.
