Are we waiting for something signifacant to occur?
Jeremy -
here's a totally non related question...
Have you ever heard of a program called "Secrets of the Dead"?
It's a PBS or initially a BBC program.
I'm going to assume yes, and continue....
:D
Early on they had a program about the Towton Battle site grave that was found and excavated in the early 90's. 1990's.
are you familiar? I've looked high and low for it, gone on the PBS website and done some searches for it. I don't think it's ever been broadcast in the US - but was in England.
where the bleepin' bleep am I going with this?
I'm wonderin' if you would have any scoop on where I can get the program?
So, yeah, I'm sitting here waiting for something to happen.....

Well, while we're waiting, why don't you educate me on the Towton Battle. Never heard of it. :D
Hello JOhn -
Towton battle field is part of the battlefield trust of England. I've been and it only matters if you've read WAY too much about it to be standing there looking at an open field.
...I loved it.
Anyhoo - to sum it up. It was a very decisive battle in the wars of the roses - 1461 is the date - Towton is a small town near Tadcaster in the area of York, England. Edward IV against the Duke of Somerset and Margaret of Anjou - wife of the "saintly" Henry the IV. Although most of the leaders were related - it obviously didn't stop them from hacking eachother to pieces.
It is labeled as Englands Bloodiest Battle.
Obviously, the events leading up to this "meeting" are defining in it's importance to the period and to the subsequent events in England history.
I believe there were more deaths in this battle than any other in England's history. The death toll has been recorded in different sources in the 30,000's and as much as 38,000 - (but that's disputed).
The weather was brutal and it worked to the advantage of Edward - some estimate the lancastrian death toll as high as 20,000. It lasted over 10 hours - intense fighting and in bad weather. At some point Edward was in dire straits and the Duke of Norfolk late in coming saved his butt if you will.
The program I am looking for is about a mass grave site excavation - with 38 bodies found - they have done lengthy studies of the skeletons and have a load of info on the nature of the injuries - the weapons used, the wear and tear on the bodies of men who fought for a living. How it effected them, the age of the men, etc. (there is a book out called Blood Red Roses - very interesting reading - if a bit over my head in terms of the archealogical lingo)
Finding such a large number of them a nice window on that time.
I'm sure Jeremy will have something to say about it.
Just an filmy overview of events.

It's early morning here, and I must have had a more than normally disturbed night with the pups coz when I opened this string I had difficulty focusing and had I been asked at that moment would have sworn blind that you were discussing the Battle of Toytown!
Bear in mind that I have been out of UK for in excess of a life sentence (British not Texan!). I will get beavering and see what I can dig up for L.

I'm only hazarding a guess, but I think we are on good terms with U.A.E. as it stands. Things seem to be going down hill in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, on the other hand. ;)
Thanks for bringing me up to speed on the Battle of Towton.

True meaning of UAE?
Usual Accumulation of Eejits! Sadly most of them Europeans. We seem to get the FILTH who left Hong Kong. Meaning of FILTH?
Failed In London, Try Hong Kong.
As to Saudia and Yemen, they have an interesting situation brewing between them.
Many years ago Saudi leased an area of land from Yemen that has since proven to be resource rich. Lease is up and guess who wants it back, and guess again who does not want to let it go?
Gulf War part Trois perhaps?
Now ask yourselves who will Uncle Sam side with?
Obvious answer is it does not matter. The Gnomes in Washington are guaranteed to get it wrong whatever they decide.
Hey Jeremy - thanks for the research. I sent them an email. We'll see if I get anywhere.
I appreciate the info.
as for the Gnomes and the Middle East - it's politics willy wonka style if you ask me - but politics is crazy people in suits who believe thier own rhetoric....
....but now, there's a new era in politics.....it's going to be a new reality tv show...Aunult meets Saddam. There's already a sequel, but we'll wait to put out our figurines before we sell the next bad guy series of toys.
SAve me, I live in California. There's only three of us left.

What appeals to my sense of the ridiculous is the thought of him actually being the terminator. Elected governor for life, then president. change the motto on the greenbacks from "In God we trust" to "I'll be Baack!". Look on the bright side. you'll get a president with solid muscle in an area other than between his ears. Chust dink.... hes liffing de amerigan dreeem.
the interesting thing is whether anyone likes it or not - he just may pull it off!
after all he's used to controvery, media attention and poor relations (old ted kennedy)
and thick skin - he is Austrian after all.
an austrian hollywood acting bodybuilder for President!!!!
wooo hooooo!
it'd be great if I could spell.
controversy
that's a california public education for ya. ha

Oh Yeah ?????????
Look what happened the last time an Austrian took control of a country with military muscle :bang:
Well, here's what we have to pick from
Larry Flynt - his platform is a Hustler magazine for every military man. Hey - that's the newspaper, not me.
Ahhhh nult - he has been quoted as saying "I am going to pump up sacramento"
and Gary Coleman - in case you are unfamiliar - he is a very well known unknown grown up child actor.
So, yeah, I can hear the Hitler-esq comments.
But we won't EVEN go into the Larry Flynt comments - please.
outta be a show. better than the Kobe Bryant show.
what can one say - thems some strange folks out there in that Californi - a.
yikes!!!

Now the good news.
Larry's hidden agenda......gotta be the reintroduction of compulsory military service for any male without work for two consecutive days (including week-ends, holdays and religious festivals). That'll get the circulation going.
Aahhnults hidden agenda......secession and declaration of self as brezidend/emberrer :king: for life.
Gary's hidden agenda........his childhood relationship :whip: with Wacko Jacko and an attempt to get "wochoo mean" as universally recognized as "I'll be back".
Kobe's hidden agenda...............not get caught thus :moon: and paying for change to legislation that will afford all professional sportsmen immunity from prosecution (and other communicable diseases) in perpetuity.
