I have a bath room with grout that has turned yellow in places and seems to show its yellow color worse when wet. I have to guess the tile is pretty old the house was built in 65 just not sure when tile was installed.

What I find odd is the yellow grout is not on every grout line. its worse in some areas but its like the owner smoked in the bath room ALOT sense the yellow seems to have a wavy affect like where smoke would have settled. really hard to explain with out seeing it.

My wife has cleaned the tiles a few times with tile cleaner and bath cleaner she has purchased from the grocery store.
TIA

Hi cinobyte, Welcome! :)

Are you talking about walls, floors, or both. I would consider a TEST with vinegar & water (50/50) wash in the grout, agitate with brush, rinse, and follow with a tile and stone specific high alkaline cleaner, agitate, rinse.

Hopefully others will chime in with suggestions.

sorry it is on the wall. I have already retiled the floor. If it helps the tiles are 4 inch white with black specks and each tile is comprised of 9 little squares. that may give an idea of age but I dont know. I will try the idea suggested.
thanks for the help

I would try John suggestion and i think the yellow is either from the greenboard behind the tile being wet or it's actually soap and or shampoo.
