Hello,
What is the best silicone sealer to use over grout around the tub? I used GE sealant Silicone II, clear sealer for kitchen and bath, and now the grout has a "wet" look which is not what I want. The grout now looks darker where I have used the silicone compared to the rest of the shower. I made sure that the area was clean and dry before applying.
Any suggestions on a different product?

Hi Monique :)
What brand/color grout do you have? As the silicone cures, it may lighten up. GE clear silicone also tends to fog after it cures, and starts going through wet / dry cycles.

The grout is Mapei "bone" kericolour. I did the sealant over a month ago and it still has a wet look which is darker than the bone colour.
Do you find that this is necessary after using the Mapei coloured caulking?

Hi Monique :)
I'm confused. You mention using two different products - GE Clear Silicone & Mapei Bone Caulk. Where did you use what, and where is the problem with what problem? Did you put the Clear over the Mapei Caulk?
Did you seal the grout prior to caulking? It's not uncommon for a clear silicone to darken unsealed grout.

On the tube of acrylic caulk by Mapei it says "not for use in areas prone to constant water exposure" so I put the sealant directly on top. Should I have put a grout sealer on first before the silicone? Thanks John for your advice.

Hi Monique :)
Yes, I would have sealed the grout, then applied the silicone caulk.
