Hello everyone -

My tub/shower tile surround is progressing nicely. The main tiles are porcelain, but I also added an accent strip (like a horizontal patterned strip), that is made out of glass and travertine. I think I would like to seal the accent strip before grouting. Would this stop the grout from discoloring the accent strip? Also, I noticed when I wet the accent strip it actually looks better wet than dry, as it adds some shine and makes the color more attractive. Is there a specific sealant product that would accomplish this for me? Any other recommendations?

Thanks -this forum has been the best!

Brian

I would use an enhancing sealer over the stone parts if you like that wet look, but the glass and porcelain won't absorb any,dry them off with a rag as well as the stone after it soaks in the sealer. The use a plain grout sealer for the grout joints.

Thanks for the input. I browsed some of the products at HD, but I was still wondering if someone can recommend a specific product I should use for the sealer in this application? Thanks!

Hd should have two different enhancing sealers. One is miracle 511 enhancing sealer, the other is Stone specific seal and enhance. The stone specific comes in a spray bottle that sometimes can make it easy to apply. Both are about the same cost.

Hi Brian, Welcome! :)

I agree with Dave if you want to accomplish the results that you were asking for. It will be a little additional product and time, but will allow you to receive an end result that you are asking for.
