I have granite counter tops that were sealed w/ Sealer's Choice Gold.

Would it be ok to clean them with Stonetech Professional Revitalizer® Cleaner and Protector?

I'm not sure since the Stonetech information says it also has a built in sealer.

Thanks!

Why are you cleaning with anything more than soap and water?

In short, my father in law sent some home w/ my wife.

I take it from your response you don't recommend using a specific stone cleaner? Is there a reason you don't recommend the StoneTech product?

Why pay for and use products that are not needed? If you did a good job sealing the granite in the beginning, it probably does not need any additional sealer now. Most products contain something like teflon as a shinning agent. Read the technical data sheet before you decide to apply this to a food prep area.

I would agree with Steve that a well sealed countertop should not need resealing however that is not the purpose of Revitalizer...Nor is it a Teflon product to produce shine.
It is simply a spray and wipe type cleaning product for sealed stone. The small amount of sealer in the product adds back to the sealer that exists in the stone already, helping to prolong the life of the sealer and the ease of cleaning the surface.
When properly applied and then allowed to dry after thorough wiping, there will be no product left on the stone surface.
I see no reasons not to clean with Revitalizer.

George is this product approved for food service areas? What is the type of sealer contained?

I use a lot of your products, but not this one.

Steve -

Revitalizer shares the same type sealer ingredients that BulletProof, Grout Sealer or any of our water-based sealers use...

Natural Stone has not been approved as a "food contact surface" yet...something that hopefully will change in the not too distant future.
Currently, The FDA does not have an approval process for products used on kitchen countertops. However, We do conduct rigorous safety reviews on all of our DuPont-StoneTech Professional and DuPont StoneCare products before they are approved for sale in order to ensure that they are safe for their intended uses.

Hi amdrider, Welcome! :)

I'm not fond of my clients using soap and water for cleaning their granite countertops. I too frequently run into clients that have used that method (because no on told them otherwise). Their tops were usually lifeless and streaky. If the stone was never sealed (if needed), the tops have darkened and stained as well.

While I don't personally recommend George's advice towards using Revitalizer, I don't disagree with it.

My recommendation is always to use a stone and tile specific neutral pH cleaner. DuPont Stone Tech Professional Stone & Tile Cleaner. No this product doesn't replace the sealer, but is safe for all your stone, ceramic, grout, shower doors, etc.

One sign of your tops needing to be resealed would be them darkening after water sits on the surface after about 10 minutes.

John, i have always heard that cleaners like dawn dishwashing detergent were neutral enough to be used on sealed stone. Is this not your experience? I have used it on my granite for about 4 years now and don't notice any loss of shine or streaking.

Hi Steve :)

Since you are mentioning name brands, you are absolutely correct. On the other side of the coin, all detergents aren't created equal. :shake:

... and all consumers don't rinse equally and buff dry.
