Did you ever wonder why John spent all of his time in elementry school day dreaming?
Well look what the view was out the school window.
Now my van wasn't there then.

What are you doin' hanging around in Mukilteo, Jerry, waitin' for the ferry? ;)
I swear it's one of the few places in the world that hasn't significantly changed in 40 years. Another is Green Lake, of course. :)

They took John's plaque down?
John
I had a job up at the top of the hill in the Harbor Point area and thought that a picture of you old stomping grounds would look good here.
When I go to Port Townsend I usually will take the ferry at Edmonds. Seems like every time I try and go across at Mukilteo there is something screwed up at the ferry from Keystone over to Port Townsend. Either it is a holiday and the line is a mile long or there is a low tide and they won't bring the boat in.
When I was growing up in PT the ferry was operated by a private outfit with a contract to the state and they got paid by the run. It was a big storm for the ferry not to run. I have been out in the middle many a time where the waves came over the bow, ran down the car deck and out the back.
Yes you are right. Not much has changed in Mukilteo in the past 40 years.

Yeah, I like the Edmonds ferry when going over that way. Some of my old schoolmates are over there, Quilcene and Port Townsend. Why take two boat rides when one will do it, eh? :)
There is a huge cultural war going on in Mukilteo presently. The newer element, Harbor Point, et al, I suppose, wants to tear the old school down and use the land for something new, maybe a city hall or something. The preservationists are fighting to retain the building for its present use as a community center. I suspect the new will prevail eventually. Maybe that's how it should be. Seems to me, though, we could set a small place or two aside and leave them be.
Flatfloor, after they graduated me to get me out of there they re-painted the building. It used to be sort of light beige. :D

Oh yes! Why oh why can't these 'forward thinking' folk realize that in the future all concrete and blacktop is not going to cut it! DANG! Leave some nature around for Pete's sake!

You know, Linda, when you grow up in a place like the Northwest you don't realize how beautiful it is. It's just there. You have to leave and return years later to catch all the beauty. I've been all over the world. You just can't beat the diverse splendor of the Puget Sound area. (When it's not raining. :D )
