I have searched this forum and another one and need an answer to a question.

I am color sealing approx. 3,000 sq. feet of 2" tile, mostly restrooms and locker rooms. A few of the rooms have some minor "pitting" of the grout that looks terrible when color sealed. These range from a simple tiny hole to approx. 2" long.

Can I use a Grout Grabber tool to cut these out and replace with new grout? what is the best grout to use for this application? Do I put a cheap sealer over the tile to keep the grout from sticking to the top of it?

Thanks
Darrell

I would use whatever they have now.As long as it's a deep enough gap you won't have problems with it holding.I wouldn't bother presealing.I would use a Fein tool, but i already own one.

Hi Darrell, Welcome! :)

I'm with Dave, but depending how much grout you have to remove, the width of the grout joint, the strength of the grout to be removed, etc., would determine the best tool for grout removal. Bottom line, do whatever it takes.

You just need to see if the existing grout is sanded or unsanded. Laticrete, Custom's, Mapei, TEC, etc. are many manufacturers to choose from, depending on what's available in your area.
